The mystery of the flying money has finally been solved

The owner of the banknotes that flew through the air at a petrol station in Rum near Innsbruck in December and caused a great deal of excitement has been found. The money had been held at Innsbruck Provincial Court for around two months and has now been transferred to the woman.

It was like something out of a movie. On the morning of December 13, 2023, banknotes suddenly "danced" through the air at the Avanti petrol station on the B171 in Rum. The spectacle quickly attracted spectators and customers. A witness finally collected the abandoned money and handed it over to the police. A total of around 1000 euros was left over.

Police appeal for owners to come forward
At first, nobody could make any real sense of the "dancing" bills. It was assumed that the money had been left on the roof of a car at the petrol station, forgotten there and then more or less took off on its own. That evening, the police launched a media appeal for the owner of the bills to come forward.

The very next day, a local woman came to the Rum police station and said that the money belonged to her. According to the police, she had actually forgotten the purse or the money on the roof of the car, so that the bills flew through the air as she drove away. However, she did not get the 1000 euros back. According to the police, she was unable to prove on the spot that the money was actually hers. "The money was handed over to the court", said a police spokesperson to the "Krone".

No reason to doubt the woman's version of events
As a result, it has been held in custody at Innsbruck Regional Court since mid-December. A good two months later, the good news came for the woman who lost the money. The lady will get her money back, there is no reason not to believe that it belongs to her, the provincial court said on Tuesday.

However, it is not certain whether the lady can be happy about all the bills that flew through the air. After all, some curious people had watched the monetary spectacle at the time ...
