As you can see in Vienna, it's not just pupils who have problems with spelling. We show bad examples from the city.

German language, difficult language. Who hasn't heard this saying? How true it is is not only evident every day in schools. In addition to problems with aggression, there are also problems with the national language. Every second child at Viennese compulsory schools has a different mother tongue, compared to 27 percent nationwide.

Of the approximately 19,700 children and young people who have been classified as "exceptional" because their German language skills are not sufficient for regular lessons, a third speak Arabic as their first language. 45 percent of children starting school in Vienna are classified as "exceptional", even though many of them were born in Austria and went to kindergarten for two years.

There is a "Laga" to "mediate"
The fact that what goes around comes around is also becoming increasingly apparent in the cityscape. At the Viennese markets, for example. Or have you ever heard of vegetables called "Bonnen", "Kardofel" or "Sellstange"? No. But perhaps you have heard of the fruit "Greyfurt"? Or maybe it's time for a new "Betwesche" in your bedroom?
