Wiener Neustadt becomes a “Bermuda Triangle” for letters

Complaints about "unreliable mail delivery" in Wiener Neustadt seem to have increased recently. The postal head office in Vienna takes a different view - but also wants to carry out strict checks.

Trouble in Wiener Straße. A delivery person is said to have left the mail in a central office in a building - if it is open - instead of distributing it. Do the letters and items always reach the tenants? The property management of the apartment building has given the post office a key to the entrance gate so that the mail carrier can reach the letterboxes.

Mail items end up in other people's houses
"When asked, the deliverer on duty that day explained that his colleague had lost the key," reports one resident. And goes on to say: "It doesn't work in Kurze Gasse either. When letterboxes are overflowing, they are simply stuffed." Even in single-family homes, items of mail from other addressees are repeatedly delivered.

Many regular deliverers on vacation
According to Swiss Post headquarters: "Deliveries are made from our new postal base in the Ecoplus business park in Wiener Neustadt. We also have several access points to various apartment buildings and we are not aware of any delivery staff losing their only key." However, it is true that some regular delivery staff in Wiener Neustadt are enjoying their well-deserved vacation.

They are therefore being replaced by other colleagues who may not be familiar with all the special features of the respective districts around Wiener Strasse. "However, we will follow up on these tips and strictly monitor the quality of delivery," they say.
