Double costs for flight to dying mother

Özgür Yesilkaya from Salzburg wanted to fly to his terminally ill mother in Turkey. A ticket disaster occurred at the airport, he was not allowed to fly for the time being and had to buy a new ticket. It was only seven months later that he was able to get his money back - he tells the "Krone" how this worked out.

When he learned that his mother was seriously ill, Özgür Yesilkaya packed his things on 26 January 2024, quickly booked a flight to Izmir online and made his way to Salzburg Airport - departing at 7.35 pm on the same day. At the terminal, the shock: he is not allowed to take the 1,900 euro flight to his mother.
