Roberto De Zerbi is to become coach of Olympique Marseille. According to the French soccer club, it has reached an agreement in principle with the Italian.

The Ligue 1 club is now working on "preparing the arrival of the coach and his staff on the OM bench in the coming days", according to a statement.

The 45-year-old De Zerbi was most recently coach at Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League. He resigned from the English club after two years and was considered as a coaching candidate by many top European clubs, including FC Bayern Munich. The former Champions League winner from Marseille only finished eighth in France last season.
