Carinthian mountain guards were on duty 2416 times

Educating, monitoring, advising - these are the most important tasks of the Carinthian Mountain Guards in their work to protect nature and the environment. Last year, the guardians were deployed a total of 2416 times. 

"Together with state authorities, the police, fire departments and politicians, our volunteers ensure that our nature remains clean," emphasized Johannes Leitner at the general meeting last weekend.

And they looked back on an eventful year. 357 mountain rangers were on duty in 2023 and 2416 missions were completed.

Focus on fungi, amphibians and reptiles
As organs of public supervision, they carried out exactly 6217 reconnaissance missions. They had to draw people's attention to environmental and nature conservation regulations 1157 times. 124 administrative penalty notices and 53 administrative penalty orders were issued.

The focus was on monitoring local mushroom regulations as well as amphibian and reptile protection.
