What a 29-year-old describes as a "stupid situation", he is now serving his twelfth previous sentence. In November, he pursued two women so persistently that they fled to a police station. There, the accused put up stiff resistance. In court in Vienna, he said tearfully: "Everyone wants to experience something."

A "victim-offender reversal" as it is written in the textbook is presented by a 29-year-old in the Vienna regional court to the jury. "I may not have done everything perfectly, but I did it as well as I could," he complains. However, this is in complete contrast to his eleven previous convictions - all for violent crimes and drugs. He has spent two thirds of the last few years in prison ...

"Everyone wants to experience something"
The current accusation: On November 16, he approached two women at the bus stop on Schwedenplatz. "I had no bad intentions with the girls," he asserts. "But everyone wants to experience something." The 29-year-old had only been released from prison two months earlier and simply wanted to meet two pretty women. But they obviously didn't want to. He chased them to a police station, where the two Ukrainian women fled to.

There and also when he was transferred to the Josefstadt prison after being arrested, he put up quite a bit of resistance: he tried to headbutt one officer, kicked others and injured another on the finger. And although police officers gradually recounted the incident on the witness stand, there was no admission of guilt. "They were very tense. I had the feeling they were about to attack me. Maybe I moved the wrong way," the defendant tries to explain.

According to court psychiatrist Peter Hofmann, it is clear that the 29-year-old will not be able to cope without therapy. He is dangerous because of his personality disorder: "The moment he is out again, he resumes his behaviour," Hofmann emphasizes with regard to the defendant's criminal past. The young man's drug problem wouldn't necessarily help either.

"It was simply a stupid situation."
At the end of his trial, the defendant once again flaunts the attested "manipulative whitewashing of his own behavior": "It was simply a stupid situation that I found myself in." Which now earns him his twelfth previous conviction: two and a half years in prison. He will also be placed in a forensic therapy center. Not legally binding.
