Ilzer: “A perfect start to the championship group”
Sturm Graz got off to a perfect start in the championship group of the Bundesliga with a scoring feast at Wörthersee. With the 4:0 (4:0) at Austria Klagenfurt, the Styrians sent a strong signal to Salzburg in the championship race.
Christian Ilzer (Sturm coach): "A perfect start for us in the championship group. We really wanted to win here. After the game in Lille, we had a lot to do in the short time available to get ourselves fresh again, especially mentally. It didn't look so good on Friday and Saturday, but today, at 14.30, the boys were on point. We were very efficient. The fact that Klagenfurt couldn't take advantage of this mistake by us and we immediately made it 2:0 and then 3:0 was the preliminary decision in the game. After the break, we had everything under control. I think it was a good start to the Sturm Graz championship group."
Peter Pacult (Klagenfurt coach): "We had a good start and were 1-0 down virtually out of nowhere after five minutes. Then we could have made it 1:1, but instead we went 2:0 straight away. That was the crux of the matter for us. Sturm turned what felt like four chances into four goals. There's a difference when you have two young lads like us inside and two class strikers like Sturm. After half-time, we just waved the flag to avoid losing. Sturm are a class team."
