With e-scooters: KTM is now heading for the cities

KTM is not only stepping on the gas in MotoGP (pictured right), but now also in the cities - with electric scooters.

When you say KTM, you think of motorcycles as seen in the MotoGP, the premier class in the Road World Championship, or on the motocross tracks of this world. Now, however, the manufacturer from Mattighofen is increasingly getting involved in the megatrend of urban mobility - and producing electric scooters.

Prominent events such as the MotoGP or the Dakar Rally are also reflected in the sales figures of the motorcycle manufacturer from Mattighofen: With 381,555 bikes, Pierer Mobility AG, which includes Husqvarna, GasGas and MV Agusta in addition to KTM, was able to increase its sales once again in the previous year.

New order behind the scenes
A lot has also happened behind the scenes at the group, which operates out of Mattighofen: clear lines have been drawn and areas redefined - on the one hand, there is now a division for motorcycles and, on the other, one for e-mobility. The latter includes e-bikes as well as standard and mini versions of e-motorcycles.

Mobility in urban areas
Almost incidentally, KTM has entered new territory - namely that of the so-called stand-up scooter. "We are clearly moving into urban mobility," says CEO Viktor Sigl.

The scooters, which were launched on the market under the Husqvarna brand with the name "Skutta", have been on sale since December and are real lightweights. One such scooter weighs 17 kilos and the Innviertel-based company is now heading for the cities.
