After the traffic accident on Sunday afternoon in Vienna-Landstraße, in which a pedestrian (44) was seriously injured, the driver has now finally turned himself in to the police. The 24-year-old came to a police station on his own in the afternoon. He is now in prison.

The violent collision occurred at the junction of Barmherzigengasse and Barichgasse: a driver crashed his vehicle into another car, causing one of the cars to leave the road and crash into two parked vehicles. The violent impact caused one of the cars to be flung away and hit a passer-by. As previously reported, the driver immediately fled the scene.

All occupants were injured in the collision. A pedestrian was also hit by the vehicle. She is in hospital with serious injuries. (Bild: „Krone“-Leserreporter)

Accident driver taken to police station
The woman was immediately taken to hospital with serious injuries - fortunately there was no danger to her life. The occupants of the driver's vehicle and the second driver involved were also slightly injured. An acquaintance of the driver involved in the accident also informed the officers that the driver had probably been speeding. In the meantime, the search for the fugitive had already begun, but he turned himself in at a police station a few hours later.

The driver was a 24-year-old man from Serbia. "He does not have a driver's license," the executive announced on Monday. He also refused to make a statement for the time being. He was provisionally arrested on suspicion of negligent bodily harm and causing injury on the road and is now being held in a prison.
