Environmental activists protest against Tesla again
On Sunday, more than 1000 environmental activists demonstrated near Berlin against Tesla's expansion plans. The occupation of a piece of forest has also continued for more than ten days. This time, however, the plans also received support: some local residents took to the streets in support of Tesla.
In some cases, verbal clashes broke out between the two demonstration camps. There were protests for and against the planned expansion of the electric car plant, for which more than 100 hectares of forest are to be cleared. In addition to the 300-hectare plant site, the car manufacturer also wants to build a freight station, warehouses and a company kindergarten.

Steinbach: "False arguments"
"I'm concerned about this because it was very clear that there has been demonstration tourism here. We are also experiencing this at the camp, where people from Lower Saxony, from Lützerath, from Hambach Forest are there. At the moment, the whole thing is being hijacked from outside," said Brandenburg's Minister of Economic Affairs Jörg Steinbach (SPD).
The mood against Tesla is being stirred up with false arguments. "Those who are currently protesting against it should tell their fellow human beings very clearly that they want to continue to have increased truck traffic," said the politician.
Camp should no longer be tolerated
According to Steinbach, the camp will no longer be permitted until mid-March. As reported, the police had imposed conditions on the environmental activists. They have built tree houses and received donations in kind from citizens in the region.
Other left-wing extremists were prepared to use violence. The "volcano group" set fire to a high-voltage pylon on March 5 (see video above). This caused power outages not only at the Tesla plant in Grünheide, but also in several towns in the surrounding area. On Monday, it was reported that the power supply would probably be restored before the end of this week. Steinbach praised the companies involved, who had "worked in three shifts".
