What the Chamber of Labor does for you

From March 4 - 13, the election to the Carinthian Chamber of Labor (AK) will take place, where you can elect your employee representative. But what exactly does the AK do for me and who is a member of the Chamber of Labor? We answer these and many other questions in our four-part series. Why am I a member of the AK?
Almost everyone who is not self-employed is a member of the AK. This includes all employees, but also part-time workers, freelancers, people on maternity leave, the unemployed, those doing military or civilian service and apprentices. Not included are, for example, entrepreneurs, farmers or some employees in the public sector.

Does the AK cost me anything?
The AK does not receive any public funding. It is therefore regulated by law that all employees pay a small membership fee. This is automatically deducted from your salary together with your social security contributions and therefore reduces your tax bill.

How much is the statutory AK contribution?
 Small contribution - big impact: If you have a medium income, you only pay around 8 euros a month; lower incomes pay correspondingly less and people in marginal employment or who do not receive a fixed salary do not pay a contribution but receive the full benefit. In return, the AK is there for you with top experts in almost all life situations. In an emergency, we will also represent you in court. At no extra cost. Our service package is therefore not only much more comprehensive, but also much cheaper than any legal protection insurance. 

Why is there a statutory membership?
 For the price of 2 coffees a month, employees get something like fully comprehensive insurance for their working life: Free advice, consumer protection, support in the event of insolvency, legal protection in court and much more

Solidarity membership ensures that everyone gets the premium package. Because no matter who pays: everyone gets full protection. This is only possible because almost 4 million employees are there for each other through statutory membership.
