Fear of escalation
Selenskyj: Putin wants to destroy everyone and everything
The head of state of war-torn Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has once again urged the West to provide more support in the fight against the brutal aggressor Russia. Otherwise there is a great danger that this terrible war will also affect other countries.
In his video address on Sunday evening, Zelensky described his dismay at the latest Russian attacks at the weekend. In Odessa on the Black Sea alone, at least twelve civilians were killed - including the couple Tatyana and Oleg with their seven-month-old daughter:
In Kurakhove in the east of the country, 16 people were injured:
"No state in Europe could have withstood such pressure and evil on its own," Selenskyj concluded, referring to further Russian attacks in recent days. "And that is why it is important that we all stand together now - all those who value life and who do not want this terror to spread to other nations."
"The world must respond to Russian evil"
All leading politicians and international organizations must respond to the aggression of Russia and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin with the utmost severity. "Putin doesn't want peace - he only wants war and death," warned Selensky. "He doesn't care who he kills, his main goal is destruction - first of all Ukraine and the Ukrainians. And then you, dear partners."
Selensky added pugnaciously: "It is therefore a matter of survival - not only for Ukraine - that the world reacts to Russian evil and strikes back." The war must become hopeless for Russia. "Russian evil should not be emboldened by weak decisions, delays in delivery or indecision."
