In her apartment
Drunk stranger strangled woman in front of her daughter
A sunny Saturday afternoon was badly spoiled for a 34-year-old woman from Spittal. Suddenly a strange man, drunk to boot, stood in her apartment and attacked her in front of her daughter.
"The man choked her and tried to kiss her," reported the police, who were alerted to the apartment building at around 2.30 pm. "The perpetrator had forced his way in through the unlocked front door. The 34-year-old's two-year-old daughter was also present." However, the young woman from Spittal was able to fend off the drunken attacker - she suffered minor injuries in the incident. But the man continued to cause trouble.
Perpetrator tried again
A 46-year-old mother and her four-year-old son were in the underground car park of the apartment building when they were also harassed by the drunk suspect. "The man only fled again after shouting at her. He lost a wallet in the process," said the police. "This belonged to a resident of the house and the officers went straight to his apartment."
Identified in a line-up
There they found three "heavily intoxicated" people: the owner of the apartment, who also owned the wallet, his partner and a 38-year-old man from Spittal who was staying with the couple. "The owner said that the guest had probably stolen his wallet and was the culprit, which the 38-year-old denied," explained the police. "But when confronted, the two victims recognized him." The man was arrested immediately and will be charged once the investigation is complete.
