Formula 1 spat! Steiner lashes out at former Haas team

The air is thick in Formula 1: After his dismissal from Haas, Günther Steiner takes a swipe at his former team. "I have no problem with the decision, but the way it was made was not correct," he says about his surprising dismissal in January.

Günther Steiner was in charge of the Haas Formula 1 racing team for ten years. The bombshell came on January 10: the team parted ways with the 58-year-old. The South Tyrolean "wanted to go in a different direction", he now explains in an interview with RTL/ntv and "sport.de".

No dinner with Gene Haas
His relationship with owner Gene Haas is also not the best. "I don't think I go to dinner with him - even if he pays," emphasizes Steiner. His successor is Ayao Komatsu. "I had him as chief engineer for eight years. If I were to say he's no good, I'd be saying that I'm a bit stupid myself," says Steiner. "Mr. Haas thinks it's a smart decision."

Now TV pundit
Steiner has already found a new job: He will act as a TV pundit for RTL. He will probably take a close look at his former team Haas. "The results will speak for themselves: Maybe I'm right, maybe Mr. Haas is right," says Steiner.
