Baby alarm! Kraft flies back home

The time has come! Stefan Kraft is taking the announced baby break. After the double in Falun, Sweden, Austria's super eagle is jetting back home on Thursday: "Everything is quiet at home. But I really want to be there for the birth."

Stefan Kraft made ski jumping history on Tuesday. He broke Janne Ahonen's World Cup points record with a hundred for first place on the normal hill.

Austria's high-flyer also celebrated another milestone. With his 46th World Cup victory, he drew level with Matti Nykänen. Only record eagle Gregor Schlierenzauer has won more often in the World Cup (53 victories). "Janne and Matti are ski jumping legends. And now I get to share all the lists with them - that's really something special," beamed Kraft.

Longer break from competition
However, the successes are taking a back seat at the moment. The three-time world champion and his wife Marisa are expecting their first child on December 2nd. But Stefan is already boarding the plane back home on Thursday: "I really want to be there for the birth."

Skipping five weeks is not an option. But I will certainly miss a week or two.

The 32-year-old is leaving his return to the Ski Jumping World Cup open, because you can't plan a birth down to the minute: "Skipping five weeks is not an option. But I will certainly miss a week or two.

Schuster as a substitute
Jonas Schuster will take over Kraft's place in the ÖSV team this weekend in Ruka, Finland. The 22-year-old Tyrolean only just missed out on a quota place in the fall.
