There is evidence of settlement in Bad St. Leonhard dating back to the Neolithic Age. The Celts lived in Lavanttal 2000 years ago and Carinthia came under Roman rule in 15 BC. "Our history goes back a long way. In 1325, Bishop Heinrich von Bamberg granted St. Leonhard the town charter," says Dieter Dohr, head of the town.
