Massive disruptions to ÖBB train services in Vorarlberg

Due to technical faults in a signal box between Dornbirn and Bregenz, there were a number of problems on the Vorarlberg rail network. According to ÖBB, however, there is no connection to the worldwide IT failures.

Due to a technical fault in a signal box between Dornbirn and Bregenz, there were extensive cancellations and delays in train services in Vorarlberg on Friday. Local services were particularly affected, long-distance trains had to wait out the disruption for the time being. According to current knowledge, there is no connection to the current worldwide IT disruptions, explained ÖBB spokesman Robert Mosser.

Specifically, no train journeys were possible between Dornbirn station and Lindau (Bavaria) until after 12.30 pm. "The technicians are working flat out to rectify the disruption," said the spokesperson. The establishment of a rail replacement service is currently not possible, it said.

Customers were asked to pay attention to the loudspeaker announcements and monitor displays on the platforms. Train services were able to resume at around 12.50 pm. ÖBB apologized for the inconvenience.
