Brand new motorboat sinks in Lake Constance

On Tuesday evening, a brand-new motorboat sank at the Auhafendamm in Hard for reasons that are still completely unexplained. There were no people on board at the time and environmental damage was prevented thanks to the swift action of the fire department.

At around 8.40 p.m., the emergency services received a report that a motorboat lying on the Auhafendamm had sunk. When the crew of the "Föhn" fireboat arrived at the mooring, only the bow was still sticking out of the water. The watercraft was salvaged by the Floriani crew and then towed to a shipyard with the "Föhn".

During the course of the incident, small quantities of potentially environmentally harmful operating fluids also escaped. Fortunately, these could be absorbed by the fire department - so there was no damage to the environment.

The owner of the boat was not on site at the time of the accident and was only informed of the mishap later. Why the boat sank is still completely unknown. In any case, it cannot have been due to its poor condition - the vessel was only recently launched.
