Princess Beatrice mourns the loss of her first love

He was her first great love: Princess Beatrice is mourning the death of her ex-boyfriend Paolo Liuzzo, who was found dead in a hotel room in Miami a few weeks ago.

As the Miami Police Department has now confirmed to the British newspaper "The Sun", Paolo Liuzzo died at the beginning of February. The police found Princess Beatrice's ex-boyfriend lifeless in his room at the citizenM Miami Worldcenter Hotel. 

Died of an overdose?
The cause of death is not yet clear, they say. But: "It was investigated whether it was an overdose," the police said about Liuzzo's death. "The investigation has not yet been completed and is ongoing."

Insiders also reported that Liuzzo, who is said to have worked as a consultant in the art industry, was a gambler and had drug problems. He is also said to have had debts to loan sharks. A friend of Liuzzo's told The Sun: "Paolo was not doing well in his private life."

Beatrice mourns her first great love
Princess Beatrice is said to be deeply saddened by the death of her ex. Paolo Liuzzo is considered to be the first great love of the 35-year-old, who has been married to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi since 2020 and has daughter Sienna. The daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson was in a relationship with Liuzzo from 2005 to 2006. At the time, she was 17 years old and Paolo was 24.

Their relationship became public knowledge after Paolo was invited to Beatrice's family's skiing vacation in Verbier, Switzerland, in February 2006. But the liaison quickly caused a stir, as Liuzzo had been arrested and convicted four years earlier for the manslaughter of a student during a brawl in Massachusetts.

Love lasted only a year
The charges were later dropped in favor of an assault conviction and Liuzzo did not go to jail, but got off with community service. However, the relationship with Princess Beatrice broke up after the explosive details of Liuzzo's life were made public. 

A short time later, Beatrice fell in love with millionaire's son Dave Clark, with whom she was in a relationship for ten years until 2016. In September 2019, Beatrice announced her engagement to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
