Hundreds of thousands of fans experienced a magnificent running festival in Vienna - there were great emotions and great stories at the finish line on Rathausplatz.
Mozart said goodbye to Vienna yesterday. After a year as a data analyst, Victor Jalenques completed the Vienna City Marathon in disguise at the end of his stay. His buddy Christoph Seiler, who ran alongside him, heard spectators along the course say "look, that's Mozart" "what felt like 500 times".
Next week, the Frenchman will cycle back to Paris: "I'll probably be on the road for two weeks. Exercise is simply very important to me."
Clemens, Romana, Laurens and Jana Ransmayr are also very sporty. On Saturday, son and daughter ran in the children's race on the Ring and didn't let the weather get them down: "It was great despite the rain and hail."
"Papa run as fast as the wind"
On Sunday, they cheered them on with a sign made from a pizza box and written on with crayons ("Papa run as fast as the wind"). Father Clemens was so inspired by this that he crossed the finish line after 3:05:32 hours.
Markus Winkler, who works at the Döbling Private Clinic and has already competed in more than 100 marathons, was the "Running Doctor". "At the end, I handed out a lot of magnesium sticks and helped people with cramps. Otherwise it was quiet for me." According to the Red Cross, a total of 28 participants had to be taken to hospital (eleven in the previous year). In addition, 158 people received assistance (plasters, bandages, etc.). PS: One climate activist was arrested for "disturbing public order".
