Several police deployments due to knife attacks
On Wednesday evening, the Vienna police had to respond to several knife attacks. For example, a bus driver in Donaustadt was threatened with a knife by a passenger. He was arrested. In two other cases, the suspects fled the scene. The search for the unknown suspects is in full swing.
The first incident took place in Donaustadt. A 48-year-old man threatened a 51-year-old bus driver with a knife after a heated argument. The suspect also punched the driver's door and fled shortly afterwards.
Difficult arrest
The alerted officers were able to arrest the suspect despite his aggressive behavior. The knife was provisionally seized. He did not confess. Several charges followed.
Second operation in Donaustadt
The second police operation in Donaustadt took place at around 11 pm in the inner courtyard of a block of flats. For reasons as yet unexplained, a 65-year-old man threatened his 39-year-old neighbor with a knife. The alerted officers were able to seize two knives and a meat mallet from the 65-year-old a short time later. The man was provisionally arrested.
Violent attack in Simmering
At around 10.45 p.m. in Simmering, a stranger attacked a 29-year-old man with a punch after a violent argument and then fled. When he returned with a knife, he injured the 29-year-old's hand and leg. There has been no trace of him since then.
Three men attacked in Meidling
Three men (23, 24, 33) were injured in another knife attack in Meidling. Two unknown suspects bumped into the victims in the street, hit them and attacked them with a knife. There is no trace of the suspects here either.
