After the unusually high temperatures and the Sahara dust, the heatwave will continue in the coming days. On Saturday afternoon, 29.5 degrees Celsius were already measured in Innsbruck. On Sunday, the 30-degree mark could even be broken for the first time this year, setting a new record in weather measurement history.

In Salzburg-Freisaal it was 25.5 degrees at around 2 pm, at the St. Pölten measuring station 25.2 degrees and in Vienna 25.6 degrees. The measuring point at Graz University reached 25.7 degrees for the time being. Linz was not far behind with 24.6 degrees. Eisenstadt recorded 24.2 degrees.

First heatwave day earlier than ever
The current temperatures are considered the meteorological-climatological limit for a "summer day". According to Geosphere Austria, the first hot day of the year has never been measured so early. The earliest day so far was April 17 in 1934 in the city of Salzburg. But temperatures above 25 degrees are also expected in the coming week.

On Sunday, it will be sunny and mostly cloudless, especially on the northern side of the Alps from Tyrol to the Mostviertel. Only in the west will there be a few isolated clouds. At an altitude of 1500 meters, for example, it will be up to 20 degrees. Otherwise, temperatures can reach up to 30 degrees throughout Austria.

In many regions, such as the Inn Valley, the Salzburg mountain regions, Upper Styria and Upper Austria, it will remain summery warm on Monday. Although it may still be chilly in the morning, it will be unusually warm again during the day. Temperatures will mostly be between 23 and 28 degrees.

Tuesday will bring a slight cooling. The first thick clouds will appear from the west, bringing the first rain showers to Vorarlberg and parts of Tyrol by the evening. The wind will be moderate to brisk. Nevertheless, temperatures will remain in the summery range at up to 28 degrees. It will be warmest in Styria.

A mix of sun and clouds will prevail throughout Austria on Wednesday. Further north and east, however, there will be much more cloud throughout the day. Rain showers are also possible during the day. Temperatures could reach between twelve and 21 degrees by the afternoon.
