Traditional fashion house closes after almost 150 years
Another resounding business name is disappearing from the Linz cityscape, leaving not only the nostalgic to look back with a little melancholy. Landa, the traditional store run by the Estermann family, is closing its doors for good at the end of June.
Eybl, Derflinger, Eiler, Texhages, Passagekaufhaus - all stores that would have been an integral part of the Linz cityscape in the last 40 years before the turn of the millennium. Moden Landa on Landstraße was also one of them: the traditional store of the Estermann family, which is now - after almost 150 years - closing its doors for good.
Rebuilt almost 10 years ago
Almost 10 years ago, the 400m² children's and baby fashion store at Landstrasse 83 was extensively renovated to make it fit for the future - in line with the wishes of the head of the family, Michael Estermann, who died shortly before the reopening at the age of just 48.
Still open until the end of June
A notice and a post on social media have now announced: "Dear regular customer! It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you that we are closing our store." There will be promotions until the end of June and vouchers and credit notes can be redeemed.
