Emergency during match
Sinner now also shines as a “first aider” in Miami
Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner not only impressed in sporting terms at the Masters 1000 tournament in Miami, but also demonstrated his skills as a "first aider". When a spectator in the stands fell over, the South Tyrolean reacted with presence of mind.
At the beginning of the second set in the quarter-final match between Sinner and Christopher O'Connell, there was sudden commotion in the stands. A woman had suddenly fallen over, probably due to the heat and humidity. The tennis match became a minor matter.
The South Tyrolean reacted with presence of mind and quickly got the spectator water, towels and an ice pack from the contingent provided to the players. He had the items passed on to the spectator area.
Sinner as the fans' favorite
The woman recovered relatively quickly after paramedics rushed to her side. The all-clear was soon given and the game could continue. Sinner was greeted with huge, hearty applause from the crowd and was eventually able to beat the Australian in two sets.
It is not the 22-year-old's first action to cause a stir. Almost two weeks ago, he won the hearts of the crowd in Indian Wells when he held a ball girl's umbrella during a rain interruption and chatted casually with her.
