Last Ebelsberg innkeeper retires from summer

For over three decades, Franz Schatzeder has spoiled his guests at the Volkshaus Ebelsberg with his down-to-earth cuisine. From summer, however, this will come to an end as the popular restaurateur goes into well-earned retirement. The search for a successor is in full swing, as Schatzeder is the last landlord Ebelsberg has left.

"The previous tenant, Franz Schatzeder, is going into well-deserved retirement and has been running the restaurant since 1989. Thanks to him, the restaurant has become a popular meeting place in the district and we hope that this tradition will continue with a new tenant," emphasizes Dietmar Prammer, SP property officer. The City of Linz is leasing the 254 square meter restaurant and terrace in the Volkshaus Ebelsberg, Kremsmünsterer Straße 1-3, from 1 July. The aim is to provide a down-to-earth restaurant with Austrian cuisine.

Almost 80,000 visitors a year
"With almost 80,000 visitors a year, the Volkshaus Ebelsberg is the most frequented municipal event center in all of Linz's districts. In view of this popularity, I am optimistic that we will soon find a worthy successor to the current tenant and invite all interested restaurateurs to submit corresponding offers. Ebelsberg is a liveable, growing district with a well-developed infrastructure, and therefore also good ground for local restaurants," says Dietmar Prammer.
