Jewish association must vote on dissolution
Following the list of political candidates led by the FPÖ mayor of Wels, Andreas Rabl, the second team has now also withdrawn its application for the Shoah memorial organization. The Austrian Friends of Yad Vashem association must therefore vote on its dissolution.
"The board of the Austrian Friends of Yad Vashem has received the news that the only remaining candidate for the chairmanship must withdraw their candidacy" - this letter was sent on Monday to the more than 800 members of the association, which supports the commemoration of the victims of the Shoah, i.e. the Holocaust.
The reason given by individual candidates was concerns about the compatibility of work and voluntary work. As a result, the board election scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled and instead a vote will be taken to dissolve the association.
Future of the association unclear
However, it is still unclear whether the organization is actually on the brink of collapse. It is unclear whether the application to dissolve the association will be accepted, and the letter obtained by the "Krone" also mentions the possibility of founding a new organization.
The scheduled election is canceled due to a lack of candidates. (. . .) But there is also an opportunity in the dissolution.

Uproar over list of politicians
Only a few weeks ago, the other list of candidates had turned around: several politicians, such as the mayors Klaus Luger (SPÖ) and Andreas Rabl (FPÖ), had joined forces to ensure the continued existence of the association.
However, after fierce criticism of the application of a Freedom Party member for the Shoah Memorial Association and after the second list of applicants became known, they withdrew.
