“The Donald” and “Sleepy Joe” against a new world
The USA is facing a completely changed world: a powerful China that, together with Russia and the global South, is on its way to becoming a superpower. Europe must not be crushed. And no one knows what will happen after the election on November 5, 2024.
Since US National Security Advisor Brzesinski described the world as a "great chessboard" in 1991, conditions on the globe have changed decisively. "America first!" was once Ronald Reagan's slogan, with which he won the 1984 election. Donald Trump chose the same slogan in 2016.
Reagan once faced a Soviet Union that was suffering from severe economic problems, an unwinnable war in Afghanistan and the nuclear disaster in Chernobyl. The old men in Moscow did not have the energy to stop the collapse that occurred in 1991. The bitter saying became legendary: "Yesterday, Comrade Chernenko, General Secretary of the CPSU, resumed government business without having regained consciousness."
Since then, the USA has been the only superpower. It has the strongest military and the largest economy. The dollar is the world's dominant currency. The USA is an important member of international organizations (United Nations, NATO, World Bank). It sets the tone in popular music, film and entertainment. Silicon Valley dominates the technology of the World Wide Web and artificial intelligence.
The USA is facing all this adversity with an 81-year-old old man as president.

The largest news agencies (Associated Press and Thomson Reuters) are based in New York. The US Secret Service, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the National Security Agency (NSA) snoop for secrets worldwide. The tapping of Angela Merkel's cell phone in 2013 became legendary. The influence on the global public through the "soft power" of the media, film and music industry, the huge diplomatic apparatus and financial resources is obvious. But now President Joe Biden (81) is facing a world that has changed enormously.
