Hidden in a box
Weapons and gold found at RAF member Klette’s home
According to a report, the alleged RAF terrorist Daniela Klette is said to have hoarded 1.2 kilograms of gold in her Berlin apartment. Weapons, ammunition, a bazooka and numerous cell phones were also found, according to the report.
The police also found 40,000 euros in cash and a pistol with two full magazines, reported Der Spiegel on Friday. The now 65-year-old Klette is being investigated for involvement in attacks by the left-wing extremist terrorist group Rote Armee Fraktion (RAF) and for robberies.
In hiding for more than 30 years
She was arrested in Berlin last week after having been in hiding for more than 30 years. The money and the pistol had been hidden in a wooden cupboard with a false bottom in the one-room apartment, reported "Der Spiegel".
Ammunition stashed in a Tupperware box
A jammer, numerous cell phones and ID cards, a balaclava and documents relating to the RAF were also found in two suitcases. Klette's Italian ID card bore the name "Claudia Bernadi". A rapid-fire rifle and live ammunition packed in Tupperware cans had been stored in the closet. The police also found a bazooka with a warhead.
Long-sought pistol seized
According to the report, at least one weapon hidden in the apartment is said to have come from an RAF raid on a gun store in Maxdorf in Rhineland-Palatinate in 1984. Investigators had been searching for the pistol for 40 years, the magazine reported.
Klette is in custody in Lower Saxony. The public prosecutor's office in Verden is accusing her and her alleged accomplices Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg of armed robberies, which they are said to have committed between 1999 and 2016 in order to finance their underground lives.
On Thursday, Klette was also issued with a six-year arrest warrant by the federal prosecutor's office in Karlsruhe. According to this, she is urgently suspected of two counts of attempted murder and attempted and completed explosives detonation in complicity.
Involvement in three RAF attacks
This involves a failed attack on a Deutsche Bank building in Eschborn, Hesse, in 1990, a gun attack on the US embassy in Bonn in 1991 and an explosives attack on a new prison building in Weiterstadt, Hesse, in 1993.
