Biathlon World Cup
Häcki-Groß leaves Salzburg coach beaming
Switzerland's Lena Häcki-Groß celebrated the second World Cup victory of her career in the biathlon mass start in Oslo. A woman from Salzburg also celebrated with her - Sandra Flunger from Saalfelden is the head coach of the Swiss athlete, who came out on top ahead of two Frenchwomen.
Biathlete Lena Häcki-Groß achieved another gala performance at the World Cup in Oslo. The 28-year-old, who celebrated her big breakthrough this season, decided the mass start in the Norwegian capital in her favor.
With two penalties, the Swiss skier finished 16.8 seconds ahead of France's Julia Simon (4 penalties), while third place went to her compatriot Lou Jeanmonnot (3 penalties/+22.3). World Cup leader Ingrid Tandrevold, victorious in the individual on Friday, finished in fourth place this time (3 faults/+23.3).
Häcki-Groß coped with a heavy fall in the singles. "My thigh is already clearly blue, but it's nothing serious. I was really lucky," grinned the Swiss skier. A woman from Salzburg was also delighted with her: Sandra Flunger is the head coach of the Swiss women's biathlon team and has helped her protégé to develop into a world-class athlete.
Anna Gandler from Tyrol finished the race in 17th place with three penalties.
Laegreid wins the men's race
Sturla Holm Laegreid came out on top in the following men's race, which took place without any red-white-red participation. The Norwegian won ahead of the German veteran Benedikt Doll (+ 6.4 seconds) and the Swede Jesper Nelin (+ 9.9). Johannes Thingnes Bö (NOR) only finished in 14th place after an orgy of missed shots (six misses).
