Ten years in prison
Threatened DJ in nightclub with held weapon
A 42-year-old man was sentenced to ten years in prison for extortionate kidnapping at the St. Pölten Regional Court. He had shot around in Tulln late at night and demanded money.
"Someone's shooting around with a gun!" This emergency call put the police in Tulln on high alert at the end of October. Special forces were immediately deployed to a basement pub on the main square of the popular garden city. What happened inside still chills the blood of many party guests to this day.
"I want my money back. There are exactly two chances: either you move in immediately with the Wega, or we have dead people today!" the attacker told the officer on the other end of the line. The 42-year-old had previously entered the bar armed and well fueled with 2.4 per mille, shot three times in the air and then ordered the DJ to turn off the music with his gun held at the ready. However, not because of different tastes in music, but because his wallet had been stolen.
Verdict not final
In mortal fear, the threatened man had only one thought: "I hope it doesn't hurt when he pulls the trigger," the victim calmly recorded at the trial at the St. Pölten Regional Court.
The man, who had several previous convictions, was sentenced to ten years' unconditional imprisonment for extortionate kidnapping - not legally binding.
