Accident driver had been driving without a license for years

Driving too fast and without a valid driver's license, an Innviertel man (34) caused a spectacular accident in his car near Burgkirchen on Monday. His car overturned in a meadow and came to rest on its side. The driver was so injured that he had to be taken to hospital. 

The 34-year-old man from Braunau was driving a car on the B147 (Braunauer Landesstraße) in the municipality of Burgkirchen at around 12 noon on Monday afternoon.

According to his own statements and those of witnesses, the man was probably driving far too fast.

In a left-hand bend, the man from the Innviertel region drove his car off the road to the right. The vehicle overturned in the adjacent meadow and came to a standstill lying on its driver's side around 120 meters later.

Admitted to hospital
The injured driver was freed from the wreckage by first responders and was taken to Braunau Hospital after receiving emergency first aid from Red Cross staff.

According to the police, it turned out that the 34-year-old has not had a valid driver's license since 2017, when it was revoked. He will be reported.
