Armed man in shopping center in Dornbirn

Cobra was deployed in the city center of Dornbirn on Wednesday evening. A passer-by had seen an armed person in a shopping center shortly after 7 pm and alerted the police.

She had seen a person with a suspicious object, presumably a weapon. The emergency services then surrounded the city market and searched the building. At the time, there were only a few visitors left in the shopping center and most of the stores were about to close. The police searched the building and took the people present outside.

All-clear after an hour
However, they did not find an armed person during their operation. Nor did they identify any danger. The operation was therefore called off shortly before 8 p.m. and the all-clear was given. People were able to re-enter the building.

Viewing the surveillance cameras did not provide any further clues. The passer-by probably misinterpreted a test fire alarm. There were 28 police officers and six Cobra officers at the scene.
