Horror accident ends lightly for Herzog

For speed skating star Vanessa Herzog, a cycling training session on Wednesday ended in a nightmare: the former world champion slammed into a car door that suddenly opened at 50 km/h. It was a horrific accident. The horror accident had a minor outcome. Herzog suffered a broken finger and bruises.

The accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon on a local road in Buch (Schwaz district). A driver stopped near a house to let his passenger out of the car. Just as he was about to open the door, Herzog wanted to drive past the vehicle.

Thrown into the field
Despite braking hard, the Innsbruck resident was unable to prevent herself from crashing into the vehicle door. She was thrown into the adjacent field by the impact. "According to the computer recordings, she was still traveling at 50 km/h at the time of impact," said Tom Herzog.

However, the two-time Olympic starter does not want to let the crash hold her back for long. She wants to take part in the inline races at the Austrian Finals in Innsbruck (May 29 to June 2).
