Sajado Red: insider tip for barbecue lovers in Vienna
In the beginning there was fire. And anyone who masters fire dares to barbecue: Hidden away on the second floor of Millennium City and at first glance rather inconspicuous from the outside, the Asian restaurant Sajado Red turns out to be a real insider tip for all Viennese looking for a special gastronomic experience. We tested the restaurant together with the food bloggers from Vienna City Food and are giving away 5 x 1 dinner for two for this insider tip for barbecue lovers.
At the heart of the concept is the so-called Robata grill, which allows each table to grill marinated food directly in front of the guests. "Fire pit roasting" is a grilling technique that originated in Japan and places particular emphasis on the quality and freshness of the ingredients.
In addition to the barbecue pleasure, Sajado Red offers a varied selection of Asian tapas that are perfect to start the evening. You can then choose between various meat, fish and vegetable skewers, which are served fresh and attractively marinated - something we were able to see for ourselves during our visit with the busy food bloggers from Vienna City Food. The restaurant focuses on meat, fish, seafood and vegetables from local, certified farms.

The focus is on enjoying food together. Sajado Red is therefore ideal for social evenings with family and friends or for a romantic date where the focus is on preparing food together. Instead of eating your fill quickly on a plate, you take your time here.
The Robata grill not only enhances the taste of the food, but also encourages communication at the table. This can also be clearly felt in the atmosphere during our visit, when all the tables in the restaurant gradually fill up in the evening with guests chatting happily over the barbecue. Despite all the conviviality, the noise level always remains within a pleasant range.
Sajado Managing Director Zhishi Chen got to know the concept himself in China and brought it to Vienna. The motivated and friendly service team always keeps an eye on the skewers so that nothing can go wrong for non-professionals. This ensures that even barbecue novices can easily become barbecue masters. The grilled food can be complemented with various classic Chinese side dishes. And the desserts are also impressive. Our favorite: the delicious sticky rice in a banana leaf!
