Drama in the Mühlviertel
Driver thrown from car to his death in accident
Why did the car spin out of control? It will never be clear, because the driver died in the accident in the Mühlviertel region of Upper Austria. The pensioner, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the car to his death when it collided with a timber transporter.
A 47-year-old man from Sandl was driving his tractor and timber trailer towards Sankt Oswald near Freistadt at around 2.25 p.m. on Saturday. At the same time, a local 79-year-old man was driving his car in the opposite direction.
Evasive maneuver did not help
Suddenly, the senior's Suzuki crossed the middle of the road. The tractor driver tried to swerve to the right onto the road shoulder. However, the 79-year-old collided with the tire of the first axle of the backing vehicle. Due to the force of the collision, the 79-year-old, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown out of the vehicle and came to rest in a wooded area next to a tree.
Helper arrived by chance
While the 47-year-old immediately called the emergency services, a retired nurse who had joined him carried out initial resuscitation measures. However, the arriving emergency doctor was only able to determine the pensioner's death a short time later.
