"My one and only"
Pensioner (83) is no longer allowed to water plants
A retired couple from a residential complex in Ottakingen have greened their backyard at their own expense and made it blossom. But not everyone is happy about it. Now all the plants are to be removed.
Everything is green in the city of Vienna. Spring has arrived. The flowers and plants in a residential complex in Sulmgasse in Ottakring are also blossoming. But if the property management company has its way, this will now come to an end. "Two weeks ago, we received a letter saying that everything had to be removed immediately," says senior citizen Ingrid Pfeiffer.
Together with her husband, she has created a small garden in the gray backyard. Always at their own expense, as Pfeiffer emphasizes. Now the 83-year-old is desperate: "The plants are my everything. This is our little paradise."
When she moved in here over 25 years ago, everything was gray and bare. All the residents had always enjoyed the cozy green oasis.
Recently, however, a neighbor suddenly complained to the property management, arguing that the cost of water for watering the plants was too high. Ingrid Pfeiffer suspects harassment behind this. Because even when she suggested covering the cost of watering, the eviction order was not withdrawn.
The plants are my everything. It's our little paradise.

The plants were scheduled to be cleared today, Monday. But the sprightly pensioner doesn't want to give up. "So many bees, beetles and butterflies are losing their home now!"
The housing management company Sozialbau AG did not want to comment to the "Krone".
