Black ice as the cause
Around 100 vehicles crashed into each other in China
At least nine people were injured in a pile-up in China on Friday. Around 100 vehicles were involved in the black ice collision, according to Chinese state media. Footage from state television station CCTV showed cars wedged into each other on a highway in Suzhou, about an hour's drive west of Shanghai.
According to the traffic police, no one was miraculously killed in the accident. Three injured people were taken to hospital and six people suffered minor injuries. The road remained closed for several hours. The police urged drivers to be careful: Due to cold and rainy weather, many roads were very slippery.

Road accidents occur frequently in China due to a lack of safety checks. In December 2022, one person was killed in a pile-up involving more than 200 vehicles in the central Chinese province of Henan.
