Fire department in action: cellar fire in Simmering

There was a major fire department operation on Simmeringer Hauptstraße on Friday afternoon. The cause was a cellar fire in an apartment building. There were several minor injuries.

Several minor injuries and numerous evacuated people were the result of a cellar fire in Vienna-Simmering on Friday afternoon.

Business premises on the first floor
A large contingent of the fire department was busy checking the apartments in an apartment building on Simmeringer Hauptstraße for smoke. The residents were brought out of the smoke-filled apartments by breathing apparatus teams wearing escape masks. 

There are also commercial premises on the first floor of the residential building, which have already been evacuated accordingly. "We are currently busy fighting this cellar fire with two extinguishing lines and several breathing apparatus teams," a fire department spokesperson told the Krone. The fire was reported out at 2.15 pm.
