More than 30 defects
Police pull scrap truck out of traffic in Graz
During a routine check in the Graz city area, the police pulled a driver from Slovenia out of traffic whose truck was found to have more than 30 technical defects. The driver could only understand the excitement to a limited extent.
The officers of traffic inspection 2 of the Graz police are used to a lot, but what they saw on the morning of Shrove Tuesday surprised even them: at around 10 a.m. they noticed an apparently desolate small truck. So they stopped the driver, a Slovenian living in Graz, and carried out a driver and vehicle check.
Holes and defective brake cables
The vehicle was examined in detail at a vehicle inspection center in the province. The experts found more than 30 technical defects, including damaged bumpers, defective brake cables, non-functioning lights (e.g. brake lights, indicators) and missing door openers and seat belt buckles. The extensively rusted-through bodywork was particularly striking.
Several reports
The 47-year-old driver showed only limited understanding and stated that he only wanted to drive to a construction site anyway. Due to "imminent danger", the man's license plate and registration certificate were confiscated on the spot. The Slovenian will now be charged with numerous offenses.
