A loud argument in an apartment in Vienna’s Floridsdorf district triggered a large-scale police operation early Monday morning. When police arrived, they found a man lying motionless on the floor. It was too late to save him. Investigators are not currently ruling out foul play. Neighbors told the “Krone” about screams and recurring problems in the apartment complex.

Around 4:15 a.m., the police received an emergency call reporting that a loud altercation could be heard coming from an apartment in the Leopoldau area. Upon arrival, the officers discovered a man lying on the floor and immediately began CPR.

Resuscitation Attempts Unsuccessful
However, the resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. The man was pronounced dead. It remains unclear at this time how the man’s death occurred.

Neighbors told the “Krone” about screams and recurring problems in and around the apartment complex.

Seen in a store that same evening
According to neighbors, the Austrian man, who was about 40 years old, had reportedly been in a store across the street just a few hours earlier. According to people close to him, he bought several beers there and is said to have had a bite to eat with a woman around 10 p.m. Afterward, the woman left, leaving her bicycle behind. This was likely one of the last signs of life from the man who would later be identified as the victim.

Based on the circumstances of the discovery and the evidence at the scene, police say foul play cannot be ruled out at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
