Murder Alert in Vienna: Man Found Dead After Loud Argument

A loud argument in an apartment in Vienna’s Floridsdorf district triggered a large-scale police operation early Monday morning. When police arrived, they found a man lying motionless on the floor. It was too late to save him. Investigators are not currently ruling out foul play. Neighbors told the “Krone” about screams and recurring problems in the apartment complex. 

Around 4:15 a.m., the police received an emergency call. A loud altercation had been heard coming from an apartment in the Leopoldau area. Upon arrival, the officers discovered a man lying on the floor and immediately began CPR.

Resuscitation Efforts Unsuccessful
However, the resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. The man was pronounced dead. It remains unclear at this time how the man’s death occurred.

Neighbors told the “Krone” about screams and recurring problems in the apartment complex. 

Seen in a store that same evening
According to neighbors, the man—an Austrian in his 40s—had reportedly been in a store across the street just a few hours earlier. According to people close to him, he bought several beers there and is said to have had a meal with a woman around 10 p.m. Afterward, the woman left, leaving her bicycle behind. This is likely to have been one of the last signs of life from the man who later died.

Based on the circumstances of the discovery and the evidence at the scene, police say they cannot currently rule out foul play. The investigation is ongoing.
