Tandem flight in Vorarlberg ends in hospital

A momentous accident occurred on Friday in the Montafon municipality of Schruns (Vorarlberg). A paraglider pilot took off on a tandem flight there - but the landing turned into a fiasco. 

A 43-year-old paraglider pilot set off on a tandem flight with a customer (65) in Schruns on Friday. The pilot actually wanted to end the flight at a landing site in the valley, but as the wind was blowing strongly there, he decided to make an emergency landing at 1850 meters above sea level.

There he got into serious difficulties, the glider collided head-on with a meadow slope, the 65-year-old was injured and ultimately had to be flown to hospital by helicopter.
