Refugees are trained as carers
Integration Fund informed refugees and displaced persons about training and employment opportunities in the care sector.
Workers are urgently needed in the care sector, as the forecast looks bleak according to Gesundheit Österreich: There will be a nationwide shortage of 200,000 workers by 2050! This is exactly where the ÖIF career platform comes in. Together with the Red Cross, Hilfswerk, Burgenland Social Services, Caritas and Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, around 100 refugees have now been given advice on training and job opportunities in the care sector in Eisenstadt.
"We have various cooperation partners here. On the one hand, companies that actually already offer employment, where you can start directly if you already have previous knowledge. On the other hand, there are also organizations where qualifications are checked, where information is provided on what requirements there are and what is needed to be able to get started," explained Tamara Hildner from the Integration Fund.
Different prior qualifications
The majority of the participants at FH Burgenland were refugees from Ukraine. "The people are really diverse in terms of their previous qualifications and language levels. That is also the aim of our event, to keep it as low-threshold as possible," says Hildner.
Information was therefore also provided about appropriate German courses. From January to May, around 30,000 German courses were held across the country.
