Middle finger shown and two police officers injured

On Monday afternoon, a 22-year-old man was stopped by a patrol in Vienna-Mariahilf after he had shown his middle finger several times to children in a playground. He then tried to flee and attacked the police officers.

At around 5.50 p.m., numerous children were on Loquaiplatz when the 22-year-old vented his anger and pointed his middle finger at them. Police officers then became aware of him and asked him to stop. However, the suspect reacted differently than expected and suddenly tried to flee.

Aggressive behavior during arrest
Nevertheless, the officers managed to stop him again a few meters away. The suspect reacted extremely aggressively and insulted the officers. He also continued to behave aggressively at the police station. During the subsequent arrest, he also injured a policewoman and a policeman. He has been in police custody since then. He has also refused to make a statement so far.
