During a break
Ski tourer fell 700 meters to his death
A terrible accident occurred on Sunday not far from the Austrian border. In the Swiss Engadine, a ski tourer fell 700 meters to his death in front of a colleague during a break. All help came too late for the man.
According to the cantonal police of Graubünden, a 47-year-old ski tourer was accompanied by a colleague from the municipality of Tschlin on an ascent to the 3295-metre-high Muttler. At around 9.45 a.m., the duo decided to take a break below the summit.
The companion required psychological support
In the process, the ski tourer fell around 700 meters down the eastern flank for reasons that are as yet unknown. The Rega air rescue service was subsequently only able to recover him dead. The second man, who witnessed the fall, received psychological support. The Graubünden cantonal police have launched an investigation.
