Fischer improved in Thailand for Olympic qualification

Weightlifter Sarah Fischer has improved her ranking for the Olympic qualifiers at the World Cup in Phuket, Thailand, but her participation in the Games in Paris is still unlikely! 

With 104 kilograms in the snatch and 132 kilograms in the clean and jerk, she achieved a total of 236 kilograms. This put her in third place in the B group and she moved up one place in the Olympic qualifying rankings. The qualifying competitions for Paris are now complete, but whether she will make it to the Games will not be known until June, when all nations have confirmed their entitlement to possible starting places. However, the chances are not very good.

Negative headlines about brother David Fischer
Meanwhile, her brother David Fischer, who has been competing for Bulgaria since 2020, is attracting attention with negative headlines. According to the latest information from the International Testing Agency (ITA), the 25-year-old was found to be using the anabolic steroid trenbolone in a doping sample taken on March 10, 2023. Fischer has therefore been suspended since the end of March 2023 and faces a ban of up to four years following the conclusion of the ongoing proceedings.
