Two men were riding their motocross motorcycles on a boggy forest path in Carinthia when one of them lost control of his bike - his companion did not notice that he had plunged into the depths.

At around 6 p.m., the two (39 and 37), both from the Feldkirchen district, were riding motocross motorcycles downhill on the forest path in the Hochegg/Lassen area in the municipality of Himmelberg (Feldkirchen district) at an altitude of around 1,300 meters above sea level.

"In a right-hand bend, the 39-year-old lost control of his motorcycle and crashed to the left over a steep embankment about 30 meters downhill," a police officer explains.

However, because his companion was riding in front of him, he did not notice his passenger's accident at first. The biker dragged himself back up the embankment to the forest path, where he met up with his companion again. He immediately called the ambulance, fetched the accident victim's car and transported the injured man to the rescue vehicle waiting in Himmelberg. After initial treatment by the ambulance and emergency doctor, the 39-year-old was taken to Klagenfurt University Hospital with injuries of indeterminate severity.

Slovenian woman left the road and refused to take a breathalyzer test
A few hours later, at 2 a.m., a 27-year-old Slovenian woman was driving on the B111 (Gailtal-Bundesstraße) from Hermagor in the direction of Kötschach. A 29-year-old man from the district of Hermagor was also in the vehicle with her. Suddenly, she veered off the road to the right in her car.

"She touched a street lighting fixture, whereupon the vehicle overturned down the embankment and came to rest on the left side of the vehicle," said an officer about the accident. Fortunately, the two occupants were able to free themselves from the wreckage. However, after the female driver tested positive for alcohol, she refused to take the breathalyzer test.

No driver's license on her
"Her driver's license could not be taken from her at the scene as she did not have it with her," said the police. Both people stated that they were not injured and did not want to travel with the emergency services. 30 emergency crews from the Hermagor volunteer fire department finally recovered the wreck using heavy equipment.
