After horror crash
Jaw, teeth, ear canal: everything broken for cycling ace
There are days when it's better not to get out of bed at all - like Marlen Reusser would have done on Easter Sunday! Instead of competing for victory in the women's Tour of Flanders, the 32-year-old Swiss rider crashed heavily after just ten kilometers. Reusser suffered serious injuries and had to retire. Diagnosis: fracture of the jawbone on the right, eight teeth broken and fractures in the ear canal ...
"A rider crashed in front of me and I had no chance to avoid her," said Reusser after the Tour of Flanders, which she ended all too early and all too dramatically. However, she is doing well and is confident that she will soon recover.
"Difficult at the moment: laughing, eating, talking!"
However, as the time trial silver medalist from the Olympic Games in Tokyo admits on Instagram, she is currently struggling a little. "Difficult at the moment: laughing, eating, talking - all my favorite things to do!" writes Reusser. No wonder, with all the fractures to her jaw and ear canals as well as her broken teeth ...
In all probability, however, the cyclist's participation in the Olympic Games in Paris next summer and the World Championships in Zurich in the fall are not in danger.
