Up to ten years in prison
Dispute over parking space ended with burning car
After a dispute broke out between two residents of a residential building in March 2020, a 40-year-old man has to answer to the Linz Regional Court today, Tuesday. The tenant of a parking space had sued him for a fine of 180 euros for parking in the wrong place. The accused then allegedly set the tenant's car on fire.
A red-hot escalation that took place back in March 2020 has now reached the Linz provincial court. A 40-year-old man allegedly parked in a neighbor's rented parking space without permission. The tenant sued for trespassing, whereupon the 40-year-old had to pay 180 euros.
Car set on fire in revenge
However, the tenant did not want to take this lying down: He allegedly smashed the rear window of the tenant's car and threw a burning object inside. The fire spread so quickly that the fire department had to be called out - but the car was still destroyed by the flames. If found guilty of arson, the tenant faces one to ten years in prison.
