Relief campaign launched
Mother and daughter lost their home in fire
Meter-high flames and thick smoke billowed out of a detached house in Altlengbach, Lower Austria, on Sunday night. A young mother and her four-year-old daughter were rescued from the burning house. They escaped with their lives - the little family lost all their belongings and their home was engulfed by flames.
It is still completely unclear how the terrible fire started. When the fire department arrived at the detached house on the outskirts of Altlengbach, it was already fully engulfed in flames. Although the fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished, the house was completely destroyed and therefore uninhabitable.
Urgent search for a new home
While the single mother and her daughter are being treated in hospital, a wave of willingness to help is already building up in the background. The market town of Altlengbach is working hard to find a new home for the family: "First of all, we need an immediate temporary solution, but as the house will probably never be habitable again, we are also already looking for long-term accommodation for the two of them," says ÖVP Deputy Mayor Daniel Kosak.
Municipality launches fundraising campaign
In addition, an appeal was launched on the online donation platform gofundme.com just a few hours after the devastating fire: "As a municipality and, above all, as a community, we are now launching this fundraising campaign to help this family through this difficult time. We ourselves as a community will support wherever we can. With housing for the transition, but also from our social fund."

In just under four hours, more than 3000 euros in donations have already been collected. "People's willingness to help is really impressive. We now have to organize everything. Together we can do it," says Kosak, hoping for a happy ending for the family.
